How to measure your progress?

Learner dashboard

A crucial aspect of learning is being able to monitor and record how far you have progressed. This will not only help you monitor your performance in your assessments, but will also allow you to compare yourself to your colleagues and to other Learners on the blog posts for Top Performing Lobsters of the Month and Top Performing Lobsters of the Year. Measuring your performance is also a big part of successful goal setting.

The Learner Dashboard on the Lobster Ink platform gives you access to various tools to help you track your progress. The Medal Table is a summary of how many medals you have been awarded throughout your journey. Under this Medal Table you can easily assess your progress by accessing your progress chart.

What are medals?

The medal system rewards Learners who do well on their assessments and achieve good results. Every time you write an assessment for the first time, you stand a chance of obtaining a medal, especially if you have prepared properly for the assessment. Receiving a medal is proof of your hard work and preparation. Remember the Five Ps: ‘Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance’

The medals are awarded as follows:

  • A bronze medal is awarded for a mark between the pass mark (80%) and 89%.
  • A silver medal is awarded for a mark between 90% and 99%.
  • A gold medal is awarded for a mark of 100%.

Remember, you can only receive these medals the first time that you write an assessment.
There is also a fourth medal up for grabs – the highly coveted Lobster Medal. If you score 100% the first time you write an assessment, you not only receive a Gold Medal, but a Lobster Medal as well. If you are writing an assessment for the second time, to improve your mark, and score 100%, you will also receive a Lobster Medal.
We can’t wait to see how many medals you can accumulate!

The only time you will not receive a medal is after completing a Pre- or Post-Assessment. These assessments allow you to compare what you knew before you started the course, and how much you have learnt once you have completed the course, so you can see how far you’ve come.

Diving deeper

You can monitor your performance in further detail by clicking on the Completed Courses tab found on your Learner Dashboard. Here you will be able to see the courses you have successfully completed. By clicking on any of these completed courses, you will have the option to view an assessment you’ve already written, or even write an assessment or watch a video lesson again.
